Developer Team Cherry has openly discussed the game's difficulty at an industry event hosted by Australian Centre for the Moving Image. Hornet’s Enhanced Abilities "Hornet is inherently faster and more skillful compared to her predecessor — meaning that the base level enemy had to be more complicated, more intelligent," commented one of the game’s directors Ari Gibson. Another team member noted, "Unlike opponents from the first game, her adversaries had to have more ways to intercept her as she tries to evade." This design philosophy led to enemies gaining new abilities to evade and check the player’s movements. Balancing Challenge Team Cherry intended to elevate other elements to complement her enhanced skills," perhaps did so a bit too much.
